My 2017 New Year’s Resolutions | Goals For A New Year

2016 has been a blur of a year full of so many accomplishments and milestones in my life. It was a great year for me because I became a mom, we bought our first home, we got our first puppy, and I enrolled in school to finish my degree. I’d say I accomplished quite a bit in 2016 but I would like to stay motivated so that 2017 is a goal-oriented year as well.

My 2017 Goals:

  1. Stay motivated in school and complete my degree. This time next year I will be finished with my degree and ready to begin the next phase of my education. I want to stay focused in all my classes and keep up my grades so I can apply to my next program with a competitive GPA.
  2. Cook more and eat healthier. I am not an unhealthy eater but I need to be a smarter grocery shopper. I end up wasting food because it goes bad before I’ve had a chance to make it. I also buy ingredients without an idea of what I’ll be cooking so I end up with a bunch of food that doesn’t go together but sounded good at the time. I want to start planning all my meals for the week and meal prepping on Sundays so that I have no excuse to skip a meal or eat out.
  3. Incorporate a stress-reducing workout into my morning routine. I have started trying to create a schedule for myself every night for the next day to keep myself motivated. Every morning I want to have a relaxing workout to do. I love Blogilates and this month I have started doing her calendar workout each morning as soon as I wake up. They are short enough that I can distract the baby with some toys in his crib while I do the workouts on the floor next to him. Doing the workout first thing in the morning gets it out of the way and I feel energized and ready to take on the day after that.
  4. View stressful situations as a challenge rather than an obstacle. Being a new mom I am constantly being challenged with how to get things accomplished with an ever changing baby. Just when I get a routine running smoothly he develops a new skill that causes me to have to reorganize the whole thing. Many occasions especially when he was a newborn I felt defeated and would be distressed in a puddle of tears. The experience I have gained being a mom has made me stronger and now that I am not a sleep derived zombie I can see that these situations are merely challenges that I have the ability to overcome. I have to be a constant reminder to myself that I need to take a deep breath and figure out a plan of attack. There is no point or benefit to crying over spilled milk.
  5. Get out in nature. This year I want to get out of the house more and let me baby experience the joys of nature. Being a new mom it can feel overwhelming to leave the house. You are worried about forgetting something pertinent, managing your time seems impossible, it feels like it takes an extra hour just to get one little baby ready to go. And just when you are finally all dressed, packed up and ready to go, the baby has a blow out and needs a bath. Please tell me I’m not the only one this happened to on several occasions. Not that the juggle has gotten a little bit better I would like to make an effort to go on more walks. I think it is good for both of us to get out of the house and be around other people and enjoy the nature that is all around us.

Alright guys, those are my goals and resolutions for 2017. I only did 5 because having too many goals can be overwhelming in itself. Leave a comment below and let me know your goals for 2017.

    XOXO,

    Crystal
