I can’t believe that it’s already been 1 month since I’ve become a mommy. This past month has been filled with a spectrum of contradictory emotions that I more than welcome because my days are filled with this little bundle of joy.
Sleep deprivation has definitely been the most challenging thing about being a new mommy. I’ve heard it called “100 days of darkness” but apparently it gets easier or you just adjust to it, who knows which but either way it’s not easy. Being exhausted all the time makes caring for a newborn a challenging task but waking up next to those chubby cheeks makes it all worth while.
Addison is doing really well. He is as healthy as can be and his clogged tear ducts seem to be almost resolved. He still gets some discharge a couple times a day but it is not nearly as bad as it was before when he would wake up with his poor little eyes crusted shut.
He is much more awake and alert during the day now but still takes a lot of naps. He goes through periods of cluster feeding and will nurse every hour some days and others he will go back to every 2-3 hours. At night he’s up like clockwork every 2 hours with the very occasional 4 hour block which mom looks forward to.
He had very consistent and regular poops and has not had any issues with constipation thankfully. He has had what we assume is painful gas. It is typically after eating he will get very fussy and squirm around a lot and then a little while later will start having lots of farts and sometimes a big poop as well.
As for me, my bleeding has almost completely stopped. I am down to wearing just a panti liner now and it’s as if it’s the last day of a period. I don’t have any pain in my vaginal area and assume the stitches dissolved quite a while ago. I do still have a painful hemorroid that seems to be getting smaller but still is not a fun accessory to my bum. The dr told me to just take more stool softeners to help with any discomfort.
Breastfeeding is going really well still. Addison has had a great latch since day one and has no issue taking a bottle, which we introduced after his two week appointment. I have started pumping once a day to build up a supply in my fridge and freezer.
Otherwise we both are doing well and he seems to be right on track.
Until the next update!
